Heat treatment analysis of SM570 steel plate

The yield strength of SM570 steel plate is 460Mpa. Due to the existence of many alloying elements, including microalloying elements, SM570 steel plate can often achieve higher strength under hot rolling or controlled rolling conditions, but the impact toughness fluctuates greatly and the properties are not stable. It is obvious that the hot rolling process, especially the final rolling temperature and cooling rate, has a great influence on the properties of SM570 steel plate.

For the thick point SM570 steel plate, the adaptability of controlled rolling is more limited, and the strength and toughness are more difficult to take into account. Normalizing has the advantages of uniform and stable microstructure and properties, high qualified rate and easy control of production process.

For customers, it is also advantageous to use normalized SM570 steel plate where hot forming or final heat treatment is required for structures, as this will not result in a significant reduction in strength after hot forming or heat treatment, as is the case with hot rolled or controlled rolled plates.
