Intelligent steel plant

Intelligent development is one of the powerful levers for the high-quality development of the steel industry in the new era and the core of technological progress. The definition of intelligence is to build a digital-physical fusion system (CPS), which is a systematic, global, open and dynamic proposition.

 

An intelligent steel plant is also a global, dynamic and continuous operation of the whole process and its intelligent management and control. Different from the automation of individual processes/devices, the automation at the process/device level is only a local control issue.

 

As a digital-physical fusion system, knowledge of physical systems (including processes, devices, system integration, engineering design, materials, environmental protection, ecology, etc.) and knowledge of information systems are required to meet each other, integrate and promote each other. In the intelligent cyber-physical fusion system, the physical system is the "root", and the information system is the "soul" of the dynamic operation of the physical system. The "soul" must possess the body and coordinately integrate.

 

Intelligence is a huge engineering system that requires the concept of systems engineering. Iron and steel enterprises have complex manufacturing process systems. In order to realize intelligent manufacturing, management and control, supply, and service, concepts such as integrity, globality, synergy, and dynamics are necessary. An intelligent system must be the intelligence of a large system with overall systemic, dynamic synergy, self-perception, self-learning, self-decision, self-execution and self-adaptation.

 

The manifestation of intelligence in steel plants should be to systematically integrate information, digital and network technologies into the production and operation of steel manufacturing processes, operational decision-making, and management execution, to achieve digital R&D and production, network collaborative manufacturing, and management and control models. and format innovation, so it is a process of comprehensive integration-co-innovation.

 

This requires a process of exploration, research and demonstration. It cannot be accomplished overnight, and it is not advisable to rush for success. Experts from different professions are required to cooperate with each other, combined with the specific conditions of the steel mill, to find the right entry point, to break through a batch of key common technologies, to obtain solutions to problems, to organize a good team for tackling key problems, and to achieve demonstrative results.
