The difference between Q235 steel plate and SS400 steel plate

The mechanical properties of China's Q235 steel plate (yield strength standard value FY = 235MPa) are comparable to those of Japan's SS400 steel plate (FY = 235MPa). The SS400 steel plate is basically equivalent to China's Q235 steel plate.

However, there are differences in the specific indicators. The content of C, Si, Mn, S, P and other elements are required for Q235 steel plate, but only S and P less than 0.050 is required for SS400 steel plate.

The yield point of Q235 steel plate is greater than 235 MPa, while the yield point of SS400 is 245MPa. SS400 steel plate(Steel for General Structure) means the tensile strength of more than 400MPa for general structural steel.

Q235 steel plate means ordinary carbon structural steel with yield point greater than 235MPa. The SS400 steel plate standard number is JIS G3101-1995Q235 standard number is GB/T700-1988.
