What is the weldability of 35CrMo alloy steel plate?

35CrMo alloy steel plate is the specification number of alloy structural steel (alloy quenched and tempered steel), which is mainly used to manufacture important parts of various machines bearing impact, bending and torsion, and high load.

The carbon equivalent value CEQ of 35CrMo alloy steel plate is 0.72%. It can be seen that the weldability of 35CrMo alloy steel plate is poor. When welding, its hardness tendency is relatively large, and the hot crack and cold crack tendency in the heat affected zone will be relatively large. Especially when welding under the condition of tempering, the cold crack tendency in the heat affected zone will be very prominent.

Therefore, when welding 35CrMo alloy steel plate, the purpose of welding 35CrMo alloy steel plate can be achieved only on the basis of selecting appropriate welding materials and welding methods, adopting higher preheating temperature before welding, strict process measures and controlling appropriate interlayer temperature.
