309S stainless steel information introduction

309S stainless steel is a free-cutting stainless steel containing sulfur. 309S stainless steel is used in occasions where easy cutting and high surface finish are mainly required.

Most of the steel mills produce 309S stainless steel, which has better corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. 309S stainless steel can withstand high temperature of 980°C. 309S stainless steel can be used in boiler, chemical and other industries. Compared with 309S stainless steel, 309 stainless steel does not contain sulfur.

The corresponding Chinese grade of 309S stainless steel is 0Cr23Ni13, American Standard S30908 (American AISI, ASTM). However, the corrosion resistance and heat resistance of 309S stainless steel are better than 0Cr19Ni9.

309s stainless steel is a variant of 309 stainless steel with a lower carbon content, and 309S stainless steel is used where welding is required. The lower carbon content minimizes the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone near the weld, which can lead to intergranular corrosion (weld attack) in stainless steels in some environments.

Therefore, 309S stainless steel is widely used in boilers, energy (nuclear power, thermal power, fuel cells), industrial furnaces, incinerators, heating furnaces, chemical, petrochemical and other important fields.
