Introduction of seamless steel pipe and its difference from seamed steel pipe

Seamless steel pipes are steel pipes made of a single piece of metal with no seams on the surface, called seamless steel pipes.

According to the production method, seamless pipes are divided into hot-rolled pipes, cold-rolled pipes, cold-drawn pipes, extruded pipes, and jacking pipes. According to the cross-sectional shape, seamless steel tubes are divided into two types: round and special-shaped, and special-shaped tubes have various complex shapes such as square, oval, triangular, hexagonal, melon-shaped, star-shaped, and finned tubes.
Depending on the application, there are thick-walled tubes and thin-walled tubes. Seamless steel pipes are mainly used as petroleum geological drilling pipes, cracking pipes for petrochemical industry, boiler pipes, bearing pipes, and high-precision structural steel pipes for automobiles, tractors, and aviation.

In terms of technology, seamless pipes are produced by rolling once, heating with round steel, piercing, hot rolling, sizing, and straightening. Seam steel pipe is also called welded steel pipe or welded pipe for short. It is welded by bending and deforming steel plates or strips. There are straight seam welded pipes and spiral welded pipes. Welding ribs can be clearly seen, but seamless steel pipes do not.

Some seamed steel pipes have welded ribs removed for seamless treatment, and traces can be seen through careful observation. The pressure of seamed steel pipe is about 10, and the pressure of seamless steel pipe is higher. Seamed steel pipes can be used for low-pressure fluid, and seamless pipes can be used for high-pressure (different materials according to specifications).

Seamed steel pipes are mainly used for construction; seamless steel pipes are mainly used for machining and fluid transportation.
