The yield strength of alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel plate is about twice that of austenitic stainless steel. This allows designers to reduce weight compared to 316L or 317L stainless steel and makes the alloy more cost-competitive.
Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel plate is especially well suited for applications covering the -50°F / +600°F temperature range. Temperatures outside this range can be considered but require some limitations, especially for welded constructions.
