S235J0 steel composition introduction

S235J0 steel is a non-alloy structural steel under the European standard EN 10025-2. S235J0 steel is one of the S235 steel series.

S235J0 steel is usually used in general engineering structures and heavy structures, such as buildings, bridges, ships, etc. Compared with S235JR steel, S235J0 steel has a slightly higher carbon content and higher silicon content. Changes in these elements will affect the mechanical properties, strength, toughness and plasticity of the steel.

The composition of S235J0 steel mainly includes the following elements:
Carbon (C): 0.20%
Silicon (Si): 0.55%
Manganese (Mn): 1.60%
Phosphorus (P): 0.045%
Sulfur (S): 0.045%

It should be noted that the specific composition and content of S235J0 steel may vary due to different production standards and requirements.

S235J0 steel has a minimum yield strength of 235 MPa, and its mechanical and physical properties are similar to those of S235JR steel. However, due to the difference in composition, the toughness and plasticity of S235J0 steel may be slightly higher than that of S235JR steel, so it is more suitable for use in low temperature environments.
