S235JR steel composition and application

S235JR steel is a non-alloy structural steel. S235JR steel is a steel grade under the European standard EN 10025-2. Among them, "S" stands for structural steel, "235" stands for minimum yield strength of 235 MPa, and "JR" stands for impact toughness test at room temperature which meets the standard requirements.

The composition of S235JR steel mainly includes the following elements:
Carbon (C): 0.17%
Silicon (Si): 0.35%
Manganese (Mn): 1.40%
Phosphorus (P): 0.035%
Sulfur (S): 0.035%

In addition to the above elements, S235JR steel may also contain other impurity elements, the content of these impurity elements is usually very low, and will not have a significant impact on the properties of the steel. The specific composition and content of S235JR steel may vary due to different production standards and requirements.

In addition, during the production process, the steel will be subjected to heat treatment, cold working and other processes to improve the strength and durability of the steel.

S235JR steel is usually used in general engineering structures and heavy structures, such as buildings, bridges, ships, etc. S235JR steel has high strength and good plasticity, which can meet the manufacture of some structural parts with medium strength requirements.
