Characteristics of ASTM A240 347 stainless steel

ASTM A240 is a standard developed by the American Society for Materials and Testing to specify requirements for stainless steel sheets, sheets, and strips. 347 is a material designation under this standard, corresponding to specific chemical composition and mechanical properties requirements. It represents a specific stainless steel variety with good corrosion resistance and high temperature stability.

ASTM A240 347 Stainless Steel Features:

347 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. It contains titanium, which helps to improve corrosion resistance. At high temperature, 347 stainless steel can inhibit the formation of chromium carbide and has good intergranular corrosion resistance. 347 stainless steel also has good ductility, weldability and low temperature toughness.

The main chemical components of 347 stainless steel include carbon (C), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), silicon (Si), chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni). Its chromium content is between 17.0 and 19.0%, and nickel content is between 9.0 and 13.0%, which is the basis of its corrosion resistance.

The delivery status of 347 stainless steel can usually be customized according to customer requirements, which can be hot rolled, cold rolled, annealed or other specific treatment status. The specific delivery status will be specified in the purchase and sale contract.

Because of its excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature stability, 347 stainless steel is widely used in chemical, petroleum, medicine, food and other fields of equipment and component manufacturing. It is also commonly used in large boiler superheater tubes, reheater tubes, steam pipelines and petrochemical heat exchangers and other high temperature and high pressure environments.
