JISG4304/4312 SUS 309 stainless steel characteristics and applications

SUS 309 is the Japanese industry standard grade of 309 stainless steel. This stainless steel contains high chromium and nickel elements and has excellent high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. It is mainly used in the fields of high temperature equipment and pipelines to meet the demand for high temperature stability of materials in these fields.

JISG4304/4312 SUS 309 Stainless steel features:

High temperature resistance: The SUS 309 maintains stable mechanical properties and corrosion resistance at high temperatures and is suitable for a variety of high temperature applications.

Corrosion resistance: In addition to high temperature resistance, it also has good corrosion resistance, especially in acidic media, thanks to the chromium and nickel elements in its chemical composition.

Machinability: SUS 309 stainless steel has good machinability and can be shaped and cut by various processing methods.

The chemical composition of JISG4304/4312 SUS 309 mainly includes chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) and molybdenum (Mo). Among them, the content of chromium is about 22-24%, the content of nickel is about 12-15%, and the content of molybdenum is about 2-3%. These elements work together to give SUS 309 stainless steel excellent high temperature and corrosion resistance.

JISG4304/4312 SUS 309 Stainless steel application:

High temperature equipment: such as stoves, heaters, etc., these equipment will produce high temperature when working, and SUS 309 can withstand such high temperature environment and maintain its stable performance.

Piping systems: In piping systems where high temperature fluids or gases need to be transported, the SUS 309 is used to ensure that piping is not deformed or damaged at high temperatures.

Chemical industry: Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, SUS 309 is also commonly used in the manufacture of chemical equipment, especially those that need to handle corrosive substances.
