30CrMo: Low Alloy Steel

30CrMo is a low alloy steel and is a steel type in China's national standard GB 3077. Among them, "30" refers to the carbon content. It must be tested before use to confirm its composition before use. Cr and Mo represent two alloying elements: chromium and molybdenum respectively. This steel has higher chromium and molybdenum content, which improves its resistance to heat, wear and corrosion.

The chemical composition of 30CrMo mainly includes carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo). The specific content range is roughly: carbon (C) 0.26~0.34%, silicon (Si) 0.17~0.37%, manganese (Mn) 0.40~0.70%, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%, sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035%, chromium (Cr) 0.80~1.10%, molybdenum (Mo) 0.15~0.25%. The ratio of these elements gives 30CrMo excellent mechanical and chemical properties.

As for the delivery status of 30CrMo, this usually depends on the specific application requirements and manufacturing process. Generally speaking, 30CrMo can be delivered in different heat treatment states, such as normalizing, annealing or tempering, etc. These heat treatment processes can influence the mechanical and chemical properties of steel to meet specific usage requirements.

30CrMo quenched and tempered, oil quenched and tempered at high temperature. The quenching temperature is 860-900°C, with an upper and lower fluctuation of 20°C allowed. After quenching, water cooling or oil cooling can be used; the tempering temperature is 490-590°C, and an upper and lower fluctuation of 50°C is allowed.

30CrMo steel is a low alloy structural steel with excellent mechanical properties and heat treatment capabilities. Its main features are reflected in the following aspects.

High strength and toughness: 30CrMo steel has high strength and toughness, which makes it very suitable for manufacturing parts that need to withstand high stress and impact, such as shafts, spindles, etc.

Excellent heat treatment performance: 30CrMo steel has good hardenability, and the critical hardenable diameter in oil after heat treatment can reach 15~70mm. Through appropriate heat treatment process, its hardness and comprehensive performance can be further improved to meet the needs of different applications.

High temperature resistance: 30CrMo steel can maintain high durability at high temperatures, and its thermal strength is also very good. It has sufficient high temperature strength below 500℃ and is suitable for high temperature working environments.

Good welding performance: 30CrMo steel has good welding performance, can be connected and repaired through common welding methods, and is easy to process and maintain.
