What is ASTM B168 N06600 Nickel-chromium alloy?

ASTM B168 N06600 is a nickel-chromium alloy manufactured according to ASTM B168 standard. Designed for use in corrosive environments ranging from low to high temperatures (approximately 2000°F or 1093°C), this alloy exhibits excellent corrosion resistance.

ASTM B168 N06600 alloy Features:

High temperature strength: N06600 nickel-chromium alloy can still maintain high strength and hardness at high temperatures, and has good creep resistance.

Oxidation resistance: The alloy can react with oxygen at high temperatures to form a dense oxide film, effectively preventing further oxidative corrosion.

Corrosion resistance: Good corrosion resistance to a variety of chemical media such as nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. Its high nickel content gives it excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Non-magnetic: This alloy is non-magnetic, which gives it an advantage in specific applications such as magnetically sensitive environments.

Good processing properties: N06600 alloy is easy to cut, bend, weld and other processing operations, which provides convenience for its wide application.

The main chemical composition of N06600 alloy includes nickel (Ni) ≥72%, chromium (Cr) between 14.0 and 17.0%, and a certain range of iron (Fe) content (6.0 to 10.0%). In addition, elements such as carbon (C), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), aluminum (Al), titanium (Ti), and copper (Cu) are also included, but they are all relatively low in content.

ASTM B168 N06600 alloy applications:

Aerospace: N06600 alloy is widely used in the manufacture of engine parts, turbine blades, combustion chambers and other high-temperature components to ensure the safety and reliability of aircraft.

Chemical field: The alloy is used in the manufacture of reactors, heat exchangers, distillation towers and other corrosion resistant equipment to ensure the stability and safety of chemical production.

Power industry: N06600 alloy is used in the manufacture of high-temperature components such as boiler pipes and turbine blades to improve the efficiency and reliability of power equipment.

In addition, because N06600 alloy has a good thermal expansion coefficient matching, it can also be composed of composite materials with other materials to further expand its application range.

In summary, ASTM B168 N06600 has become a very important special alloy material because of its excellent properties and a wide range of applications.
