50Mn steel plate concept
50Mn steel plate is a medium carbon high manganese carbon steel, with high strength and good toughness, but poor welding performance. It executes GB/T711-2017 standard and belongs to a kind of alloy structure steel plate. After heat treatment, 50Mn steel plate should have good matrix strength, wear resistance and certain welding performance, so it is widely used in the manufacture of stress-bearing parts, high-wear parts and high-stress parts, such as saw blade matrix, lightweight die, spring and so on.
Chemical composition of 50Mn steel plate
The chemical composition of 50Mn steel plate mainly includes carbon (C), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si) and other elements, and its content range is as follows:
Carbon (C) : 0.47%0.57%
Manganese (Mn) : 1.40%1.80%
Silicon (Si) : ≤0.25%
In addition, 50Mn steel plate may also contain sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu) and other trace elements, but their content is usually low, such as sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) content is not more than 0.035%, chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu) content is not more than 0.25%.
Mechanical properties of 50Mn steel plate
The mechanical properties of 50Mn steel plate are excellent, and the specific indicators are as follows:
Tensile strength (σb) : ≥645MPa (some data indicate that ≥650MPa)
Yield strength (σs) : ≥390MPa (or marked as ≥40MPa, but note that the unit may be N/mm²)
Elongation (δ5) : ≥13%
Section shrinkage (ψ) : ≥40%
Impact power (Akv) : ≥31J
Impact toughness value (αkv) : ≥39J/cm² (specific value may vary according to different standards)

50Mn steel plate delivery status
The delivery state of 50Mn steel plate is usually the state after hot rolling or heat treatment, such as normalizing, annealing, high temperature tempering, etc. Where delivery in heat treatment condition is required, it shall be indicated in the contract, and if not indicated, delivery shall be made without heat treatment. In addition, the size, shape, weight and allowable deviation of 50Mn steel plate should comply with the provisions of GB/T709.
